Jake recently received a sun filter for his telescope in the mail (thanks, Uncle Dave and Aunt Judi!). And because it has been cloudy and/or rainy every day since receiving it, there has been no sun at which to look.
This reminds me of the proverb that says: “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12) As he keeps an eye on the clear sky forecast, with any inkling of a cloudless sky, Jake has risen early in the morning in anticipation of seeing the sun rise. But alas, every morning his hope has been deferred. Cloud cover surrounds.
This morning was different, though. He was up at 5:00, peering out the back window, waiting for the sun. And it greeted him (and his telescope) not long after.
Not only did he snap some pictures of the sun, but he also created a sunspot tracker so he may record the ever-changing sunspots each day. If you look closely in this image, you can see a spot on the lower left part, and some more faint spots at the bottom.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
