Ruth will sometimes snag my phone and take countless pictures and videos, which I promptly delete upon discovering. The other day, however, I found this beautiful sunset that she captured during Peter’s football practice.

This picture came to mind when I read the following passage from Luke this morning. Zechariah, the father of John the baptist, is talking:
And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heavento shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.
A beautiful sunrise (or sunset :)) can be a reminder of God’s tender mercy to send a Savior, Jesus, whose light reveals our sin and guides our feet.
