CO or Bust

We took off Friday afternoon, headed for…

to pick up our firstborn and head into the mountains. We were buzzing with excitement to see Jake and be all together in beautiful Colorado.

When we left Aurora, IL, the temperature was 80 degrees. Kids were wearing shorts and short-sleeved shirts. We drove through constant rain for several hours, arriving in Omaha, NE, where the temperature had dropped to 40 degrees. We were quickly reminded that it was still early spring.

We are planning to ski a couple days while out here, thus we packed everyone’s skis and boots, along with snow pants, winter coats, clothes, games, pre-prepared food for the week. Additionally, we strapped Jake’s bike to the rooftop of the car so he can ride at school this spring and summer. Needless to say, this car was packed.

After arriving in Colorado,

we exchanged Jake’s bike for his skis, packed everyone back in the car and made a stop at Costco to pick up the rest of the food we would need for the week. The place we are staying is truly in the mountains, far from the convenient supermarkets we are used to having nearby.

Once we arrived, it didn’t take long for everyone (minus the photographer, who also had to put all those groceries away) to put on swimsuits and hop in the hot tub.

The view is second-to-none, and I am tearing up just looking out the window at the snow-covered mountains. So thankful to God for allowing us this time together as a family.

Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:19-20)
