Why is it good to celebrate Christmas? Not because of the gifts–neither the receiving nor the giving–not because of the lights and decorations, or the carols.

It is good to celebrate Christmas because it is good to remember what God did over 2,000 years ago. He sent His Son, Jesus, to be born as a helpless baby, so that He would grow up to be a Man who would be the Savior to all who believe in Him. Every one of us is without hope unless we believe in this Savior born as a baby and surrender our lives to Him.

I don’t know exactly when Jesus entered earth as a baby–probably not December 25–but I do know that it is good to remember this amazing act of love from God.

When we were in Colorado, I saw one of my favorite sights.

I love it because it’s a picture of pure snow covering dead branches.

Like when Job said, “I put on righteousness, and it clothed me”. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3)

We are dead in our sin. But when we believe in this Savior, Jesus, and give our lives to Him, He covers us with His pure righteousness. What a wonderful thing to celebrate this Christmas!
