In recent weeks, Ruth has shown great interest in helping out in the kitchen. Perhaps this is because I spend approximately 75 percent of my time in the kitchen (or at least it feels this way).
Meatloaf was on the menu last night, and Ruth had no reservations as she dug her hands into the raw meat, onion and egg mixture and combined everything together.

When that was done, she was ready for the next job. So I handed my 7 year-old daughter–who doesn’t yet know how to tie her shoes–a butcher knife, and she sliced up mushrooms. Hmmm, I’d say those fine motor skills are working just fine.

“…she works with her hands in delight.” (Proverbs 31:13)
