After a long hiatus, I am back to summarizing the Johanik life month by month. Heading into the new year, I plan to blog at least once per month. Goals.
As I write about events from June, it feels like an eternity ago! Ruth played her final softball game. She really enjoyed the season and can’t wait for spring when she can play again.

Her end of the season party was at a bowling alley. Derek was her bowling buddy.

Ruth also made some money over the summer taking care of Walter the dog.

Golf carts were a theme that ran through June. Our new neighbors down the street own a huge golf cart. He thought it would be a good idea to let all the neighbor kids pile in one Saturday and have a 15 year-old who has never been behind the wheel of a car drive them up and down the street. Note that the sister of the driver was wearing a helmet.

Later in the month, we held the Cru golf outing, which meant more golf cart time! This time, however, there was an experienced driver behind the wheel.

Most of the month of June was spent preparing for Derek’s graduation party. We stocked up on a variety of meats and fired up the smoker.

We set up the tables and tents.

Mom and Dad came out early in the day to help with the preparations.

Then we were ready for people to arrive!

Our goal was for everyone to have fun and go home with full bellies.

Aunt Judi brought fun props for pictures

as well as beautiful custom-made cookies.

Jim took on some of the football guys in a pugil stick battle.

The fun lasted well into the night.

My brother and his family stayed with us overnight, and the next day we played some backyard whiffle ball.

When Derek opened up his cards the day after the party, he received so many kind words of encouragement. Here’s the card from his sister:

Hooray for the end of the “blog hiatus!” June was so much fun.
